The development of the “EU Roadmap for product reformulation” is a high priority in the European agenda. It aims at improving and offering to consumers healthier food & drink options with reduced levels of salt, saturated fats, added sugars and energy value, all over Europe.
The Federation of Hellenic Food Industries (SEVT) promotes a holistic approach, according to which, for maintaining their good health, consumers need to adopt a balanced & healthy nutrition, through the moderate consumption of all food products, combined with physical activity, awareness and training on healthier lifestyles.
In Greece, this approach is established on the active collaboration between the Ministry of Health and all relevant stakeholders, including SEVT. The objective is to undertake actions and voluntary commitments, considering scientific evidence, local nutritional habits, traditional products, consumers’ preferences, technological progress and food safety.
In this context, our Federation has assumed initiatives that contribute to the efficient communication and collaboration with the State, through the creation of the Nutritional Policy Committee and its involvement in the implementation of a National Action Plan on product reformulation.
