From 29 June to 3 July 2015, the European Food and Drink Week at EXPO Milano served as the backdrop for FoodDrinkEurope\u2019s Congress. The focus of EXPO Milano is \u201cFeeding the planet, Energy for life\u201d and run from May through to October in Milan. The FoodDrinkEurope Congress was held at the EU Pavilion of the Universal Exhibition. Each day of the week addressed key challenges and opportunities the sector is facing. The Congress was a very successful event with an impressive line-up of speakers, including Commissioner Phil Hogan and Commissioner El\u017cbieta Bie\u0144kowska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2nd Day of the Congress discussed the pilar “Driving jobs & growth” and in the Session 1: Food & Drink SME Champions\u2019 Network launched at EXPO<\/a>, Mr E. kaloussis \/ SEVT President & Member of FDE Board participated as a speaker. In its continuous effort to highlight the role and value of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), FoodDrinkEurope has created a network of experts from national federations in all Member States. These \u201cChampions\u201d will promote the role of food and drink SMEs in Europe\u2019s economy and culture and ensure that their needs are taken on board by policy-makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 4rd Day of the Congress discussed the pilar “Evolving for the future” and in the Session 2: “Educating the future workforce \u2013 ECOTROPHELIA<\/a>” representatives fron the stuednts team of TEI Thessalias – Prof. I. Giavasis & Mr M. kandilakis, who have participated and awarded at ECOTROPHELIA Greece participated as a speakers. The objective of the session was to showcase the efforts made in the context of the European Ecotrophelia student food innovation competitions, to train food engineering and commercial higher education students \u2013 the future workforce of the food industry – in the field of food innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
