The forth edition of ECOTROPHELIA Europe, the European competition for the creation of innovative food products, was held at the International SIAL Food Fair on 19 & 20 of October 2014.
Sixteen teams from Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland and United Kingdom presented their creations, winners of their respective national competitions. Inspired by current trends in consumption in Europe, these innovative products take into account all aspects of product development (technical, sensory, packaging, industrial, regulatory, marketing, economic and commercial) with a real obligation of results.
- ECOTROPHELIA Europe GOLD is awarded to FRANCE for DuoMarin – Les Lardons de la Mer: duos of fresh fish in the shape of a “lardon”. MONTPELLIER SUPAGRO receives a prize of 8.000 €.
- ECOTROPHELIA Europe SILVER is awarded to ROMANIA for TopIce: ice cream with topinambur and sea buckthorn: a dairy dessert frozen through a special method, containing natural ingredients. STEFAN CEL MARE UNIVERSITY OF SUCEAVA receives a prize of 4.000 €.
- ECOTROPHELIA Europe BRONZE is awarded to GREECE for CAROBITES: a functional, indulgent, sweet snack based on carob, with low glycemic load for. AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS receives a prize of 2.000 €.
Special Prize «Coup de Coeur» Innovation for the most innovative project is awarded by the Département de Vaucluse to GERMANY for Droptail: a frozen cocktail concentrate with liqueur balls for the fast preparation of a cool drink. HOCHSCHULE OSTWESTFALEN – LIPPE – LEMGO receives a prize of 1.000 €.
