The role of the Food & Drink Industry is to produce safe products of high quality. It is responsible for implementing EU legislation on safety, hygiene and labeling for food ingredients (additives, enzymes, flavorings), food contact materials, contaminants (acrylamide) and allergens.

Each Industry offers quality and safety through its products to the consumers with the self-regulatory systems it implements. At the same time the competent Authorities define the regulatory environment within the European Framework and validate through regular official controls the effectiveness of business control systems.
