ECOTROPHELIA at a glance

ECOTROPHELIA is a competition related to the creation of eco-innovative food & drink products. It aims at supporting students engaged in food science and becoming a hotbed of innovative ideas for the Food & Drink Industry, promoting entrepreneurship and competitiveness. Furthermore, ECOTROPHELIA brings together students, teachers, researchers and professionals of the food sector to promote innovation.

The competition is conducted in two stages: In the first stage, national organisations from European Union Member states, and / or National organisations from European countries not in the European Union, and / or Non-European national organisations as associated countries, under the authorisation of the Organising Committee are organizing the competition at National level. In the second stage, the national winning teams which have won the national competitions participate in the European competition.

ECOTROPHELIA Greece

SEVT organises the ECOTROPHELIA competition since 2011. It aims both to support young Greek students engaged in food science and to become a hotbed of innovative ideas for the Food Industry. Under the regulations of the competition SEVT invites students from higher education institutions to develop eco- innovative food products.

For the selections of winners are established two Committees: the Technical and the National. The Technical Committee is formed to evaluate the proposals and to decide which ones meet the criteria of the competition to continue to the second phase. Members of the Technical Committee are eminent scientists and prominent members of the Food Industry.

Then, the teams which are qualified to the final phase present their product and bring them into tasting to the National Committee, which is composed of personalities of the academic, scientific and business world. The National Commission selects the three best products of the competition, which awarded with the coresponded prizes. The team that ranked first participates to the European Competition "ECOTROPHELIA", where competing teams with students from other countries.
