What are The Foodies?
The Foodies are the European award to celebrate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the food and drink sector with a track record of excelling at sustainability. These awards are an initiative of FoodDrinkEurope, which represents the industry at the European level.
Applications are open for three categories of award; projects can be an innovation, idea, activity or charitable commitment:
The Greener Planet Award – For an SME committed to reducing its environmental impact
The Nutrition Action Award – For an SME committed to offering more nutritious products.
Next-Gen Innovator Award – For a young person or team with a startup innovating in the food and agriculture space with an aim to create more resilient, sustainable, and safe food systems.
Why should you apply?
We think your [project/initiative] would be a great foundation for an application to the [Greener Planet Award/Nutrition Action Award/Next-Gen Innovator Award/these awards]. Not only is this a chance to promote [project/initiative] to audiences in [home region/country] but also at the highest levels of the European Union.
These awards are a great opportunity to tell your sustainability story to a European audience. And if you make it as a finalist, your story will be showcased to the people shaping our food future here in Brussels, including policymakers, global and European food and beverage manufacturers, retailers, and more.
In 2022, The Foodies showcased projects from 15 finalists from across Europe, culminating in 3 worthy winners and €2500 generated for charity. Find out more about the previous awards here.
