CAPINFOOD Project ” Improving the enabling environment and public awareness for innovation in the South-East-European food sector through transnational collaboration” was financed from South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme.

The main objective of the CAPINFOOD project was to improve the enabling environment for food innovation 

  • by building the capacity of the supporting institutional framework,
  • by reducing the barriers of innovation, and
  • by promoting the public awareness on benefits of innovation in the food sector through transnational collaboration.

Specific objectives of the project were:

  • to develop national innovation strategies in the food sector
  • to improve the coordination of the related institutional framework
  • to develop skills of SEE institutions in the use of effective tools in supporting food SMEs
  • to promote the use of ICT based tools for fostering innovation in the food sector
  • to develop pilot systems for institutions for provision of collective innovation support services for food SMEs
  • to improve the appreciation of food innovation and entrepreneurship
  • to disseminate food research results to a wider community – especially to young people – and also beyond the food sector
  • to integrate non EU countries into the development of South-East Europe
  • to concert efforts and share successful approaches related to food innovation by the establishment of a regional forum in the South-East Europe area.

Project outcomes:

  • All trainings (in Chain Management, Knowledge Transfer and ICT) had been carried out at all partners sites.
  • Forum events were organised.
  • Best practice guides had been prepared.
  • The Knowledge portal is ready for use.
